We sell our gold to shore up the foreign exchange market so that we can import rice from Vietnam, India, Thailand and anywhere else, Import the cooking oil from pretty much the same sources, then import our tomatoes from Burlina Faso, and onions from Niger via Nigeria, and the long dead chicken, pig feet, cow feet, and fish from God knows where to enjoy our fried rice, jollof rice, plain rice and stew, and then go to shit, using imported toilet rolls. And then we call ourselves independent, even as we cry foul, fall on our knees, and beg for lifting of bans on these imports. May God be with us.
