I hope they're here to manufacture and not assemble. Can we get another company to come and manufacture gas cookers with ovens and fridges? All these can target the sub-region and beyond due to the continental free trade initiative if they're really manufactured here. Vehicle parts is also a huge market. It may be more profitable than vehicle assembly.

@Helen, the benefit we reaped from Kotoka's useless coup as hailed by idiotic Paul Adom Otchere and co.
Yes, Ghana manufactured electronics and household appliances including radios, fridges, and air conditioners during the 1960s and early 1970s. This industrial push was a cornerstone of Kwame Nkrumah’s post-independence, socialist-driven economic policy, which aimed to make Ghana self-sufficient and industrialize.
Key facts regarding this period of Ghanaian manufacturing:
Ghana Sanyo Company Limited: Established as a joint state-private company in the 1960s with Sanyo Electric Trading Company of Japan, it produced televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, and stereos.
Akasanoma: A well-known brand of electronics, including radios and televisions, was manufactured at the Ghana Sanyo factory.
GIHOC Industries: The Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) oversaw various state-owned manufacturing factories.
Production Context: Factories for refrigerators, air conditioners, and other consumer goods were actively producing, with reports indicating production was robust up until at least 1970.
Decline: Following the 1966 coup that removed Nkrumah, many of these state-owned enterprises suffered from mismanagement, foreign exchange shortages, and eventual abandonment.
The initiative was part of a broader,, ambitious industrialization agenda aimed at shifting Ghana from a colonial, raw-material export economy to an industrialized, self-reliant nation.

EVEN AN FPSO ATTA-MILLS, GHANA CANNOT MAKE PROFITABLE USE OF THAT FLOATING PRODUCTION STORAGE AND OFFLOADING (FRSO) SUBSEA HYDROCARBONS BYPRODUCTS ONTO CRUDE OIL TANKERS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND SALE TO OTHER NATIONAL CUSTOMERS.
GHANA CANNOT PROFITABLY MANAGE EVEN AN IMPORTED FPSO ATTA-MILLS,AND OPTIMIZE THE USE FOR PROFITABILITY, LET ALONE "MANUFACTURE" AN ELECTRIC METER.
GHANA'S LEADERS HAVE BEEN USELESS AND CRIMINALS SINCE 1957 AND IT SHOWS CLEARLY EVERYWHERE ACROSS HOPELESS BANKRUPTED GHANA.
SOMEONE MUST HAVE COLLECTED HIS 10% SOMEWHERE ALONG THE VALUE CHAIN. THIS IS NOT A METER MANUFACTURING PLANT. IT'S A METER ASSEMBLY PLANT.
