I hope this recovery process is legitimate and accurate. However, I need to point out something that I believe is unfair, which ECG seems to be using to take money from landlords.
For example, when ECG discovers that a tenant’s meter is faulty or has an issue, they disconnect the power and then impose a hefty bill on the landlord—even in cases where the tenant has already moved out. This feels like a form of blackmail: “If you don’t pay, you won’t get your power restored.”
My question is: What is the purpose of a prepaid meter? If I provide a prepaid meter for my tenant, and the meter later becomes faulty or develops a problem, why should the landlord be held responsible?
I have repeatedly experienced situations where I end up paying for electricity I did not use. I believed that prepaid meters were meant to prevent exactly this issue, but it still keeps happening.
