Customs always falls short of their revenue targets over the past 50 years, corruption and criminality is advance, they are collecting double of what they are declaring, and that is business as usual for them, thieves as always.

Ghana has the most expensive import duties in all of Africa and that makes one think twice before importing anything to Ghana. We always find alternative first . Ghana should do something about its exorbitant import taxes.

They still collected more than 2024 and year beforehand even though the Cedis is stronger now:

The most useless and criminal organization in Ghana is the Customs. The Police are better, they collect on the spot peanut bribe from you and allow you go while Customs demand huge amounts only to declare half of it pocketing the rest as if it's part of their legitimate monthly salary.
Ghana Customs should be scrapped to allow importers/exporters pay all duties via bank transaction and online. Failure to do this will always result in short of revenue targets because corruption is gargantuan in that organization.
It's the most corrupt organization in Ghana whose practices must be seriously checked if government wants to alleviate corruption in the sector. The Ghana Customs is a criminal organization that lives on sweat and toil of importers/exporters and the taxpayer.
