Kenkey is still being sold at GHC5 per ball ,prices of fried fish has gone up.An ordinary person needs GHC50 to eat kenkey, which is unacceptable.

We thought NPP did not do much in food prices but it looks like NDC is doing worse.

It's normal and nothing new. We are in the peak season and everyone knows food is in abundance always at this time of the year. So what is new about this. Only the ignorance will take this as something new.

An idiot. What's the correlation between the statistics that the Agric Minister read and what was prevailing on the mkt? Was it not the same thing NPP was doing?

Taking credit for no effort. Our improved food situation has nothing to do with the current government particularly your ministry. What are the so called 'interventions and stronger policy directions' you are talking about. Food production begins with land preparation, seed availability and fertilizer. In terms of land preparation majority of farmers ploughed their farms without any government support. Tractor operators charged an acre just like the previous year. Farmers used their own seeds and bought fertilizers at prices higher than under the previous administration. Ghanaians are only being lucky for God's own mercy but not from any foundational reform from anywhere. Fertilizer meant for farmers in the north under the SAVANNA INVESTMENT PROGRAM (SIP) had stayed for more than a month in the stores whilst you kept on changing dates for the launch of distribution, a time farmers needed them for their crops. Quantities were lowered and lately distributed as such the few beneficiaries could not used them as the season was almost over. Interest rates at the banks remained the same with the same difficulty in accessing. Today farmers are crying out for reasonable prices to break even while you are bragging or boasting at their pain. Please stop disturbing farmers.

I bet you are not a farmer coz if you are, you would know that this current government actually distributed to each and every farmer with free fertilizers. I am a farmer, I still have hip sum of fertilizer at home. That and increased production had let to abundance of food in Ghana this year. The only problem is that this not reflected in our daily lives because market women are greedy and still kept prices at high even though farm produce are way cheaper on the farms. My farm is in Accra and it’s just about three acres of land. Within the span of 4 months I made a profit about 80000 Ghana cedis after paying the lease for the farm land. I had I would be making more but the price of onion had dropped significantly because of increased production and i didn’t hit my target. Last year price of a bag of onion was almost 2000gh and this year it wasn’t even up to a 1000. So year price of food has dropped significantly because of the government’s involvement. It’s market women that are being greedy. So before we start speaking big words let’s make sure we know what is actually happening on the field first. Everything shouldn’t be about politics. Peace out
