  We the consumers are not against it but the normal greed of our farmers to sell twice the cost price is what will make it unsustainable. Once they have the autonomy, they will sell one bird at the price of a goat. So they first point of call is to teach the Ghanaian farmer not to eat with both hands and legs schedule sustainable prices and gradually whatever profits they want they can rake in.

  Why do we have to force restaurants and hotels to buy made in Ghana chicken? It is a free market and these are private businesses. They can buy chicken from Pakistan for all we care. If the govt were serious they should impose this nkoko nketeketen nonsense on govt agencies, schools and canteens. And buy made in Ghana cars by kantanka instead foreign SUVs. Don't inflict further injury on hotels by forcing them to buy local chicken. But for cheap chicken imports most of us would probably be eating chicken only at Christmas. Leave the hotel industry alone, John.

  Gh is forced to import comatose fake chickens from overseas bevause the nations made loan agreements and if you default on the loans part of the agreement requires the defaulted to import foreign items..its not a coincidence ...

  Gh is forced to import comatose fake chickens from overseas bevause the nations made loan agreements and if you default on the loans part of the agreement requires the defaulted to import foreign items..its not a coincidence and of course by importing foreign items like chicken you are basically starving off local.producrion, demand for local items and of course stagnating the chicken industry and stagnating jobs..the solution is to find ways to or give tax incentives to hotels and restaurants etc to buy local also the shs and universities must be encouraged to serve local chicken..find other users of locally produced chicken elsewhere in Africa and stop complaining idiot..Africa is a big continent

  A wise government would rather provide adequate resources to successful poutry farms to produce more. And the have a mentoring program where the successful poultry farmers would mentor a lower tier of poultry farmers to become more successful, too.
  
  Giving day old chicks to laymen and women would not produce any desired outcomes! PERIOD.
