  Why should sanitation day should be compulsory for shop owners? Why do we pay tax to assembly and also income tax to the government? In abroad government pay workers to clean the streets and not shop owners.

  It is not the responsibility of shop owners to clean gutters and collect garbage they are paying taxes.who ever is collecting those taxes must make sure the city is clean. We should get those responsible for collecting the garbage to work at night with areas clearly demarcated with AMA supervisors responsible for ensuring their locations are clean before paying them.
  The contractor responsible for cleaning and collecting garbage must sign an SLA with clear KPI”s and must be reviewed periodically.
  AMA should start thinking of waste segregation anytime l walk through Accra central l ask myself two questions
  Why is AMA not segregating waste?
  Why are we not collecting waste in the night.
  It is about time AMA do things differently we cannot continue to do things the same way and expect different results.Accra central is stinking.
  AMA has failed over the years to make Accra clean.
  Why are we threatening shop owners who are paying taxes for not coming out clean and collect garbage when people are paid on monthly basis for no work done l need answers.
  The contractor collecting waste should be task to collect the waste at night,AMA should get shop owners and sellers to start segregating waste.
  AMA should provide clearly labeled waste bins with clear labels on them on a pilot basis and make the area supervisor responsible for the pilot project and we will surely see an improvement in the situation.
  It is possible to get it done. Cleaning is gradually becoming scientific so let’s start from somewhere as a nation and we will reduce our budget for paying contractors for collecting waste ineffectively so we use the savings to provide furniture for our schools. Should AMA continue to be responsible for Sanitation??
  I will talk about the choke gutters in my next presentation.

  Such nonsense! Why were the gutters not covered during construction? Who gave the contracts for gutters and drainages? Who gave instructions to the contractors not to cover them? Because if they were covered no idiot would dump refuse to create mosquitoes to cause malaria. So if Ghana spends millions of dollars to import malaria drugs, who caused that financial loss to the state? These questions will be sweet in court. The shop owners should get a good lawyer.

Yes, the question remains Why were the drainages and gutters left open? Construction took place under both NDC and NPP! And this is what we get? Because they can fly abroad for medical check ups and healthcare? And intentionally make innocent citizens suffer? You people deserve hell when you die!!

  The drainage systems are mostly open gutters not serving the purpose it was constructed for. Accra needs a good drainage system so we can create a healthy environment for our had working shop owners to do their business to survive.
  It is not the responsibility of shop owners to go about cleaning drains etc people are paid to get the job done so they must do their jobs well, it is the so called appointee’s who are collecting fat salaries who should be taken to court not the innocent businessmen operating in an unpredictable economy.
  Let’s employ competent engineers who understand new models of urban drainage development so we can get value for money. KNUST can help in getting some of these projects done all what they need is resources.
  The Chinese can also help in studying the entire drainage systems……Kwame Nkrumah did same for Tema so why can’t we do same now?
  The open drains have become garbage dumping grounds because they are not covered right?.
  We should stop politicizing everything around us and get the job and get this so called Mayors to sign performance contracts.
  It is about time this guys get elected to their positions so we can independent minded people to take up the position to get the job done.
  The Government should get prisoners to clean drains, sweep and collect garbage for some fees so they can feed themselves properly in the prisons.We have stop prosecuting innocent shop owners it is job to clean drains.
