The price of gold was at an all time high and our economy was enjoying remarkable buoyancy as a result of Kwame Peprah's Midas Touch (pun intended). He was a practical man and a new era of national prosperity beckoned. On May 7, 1999, Gordon Brown, the British Chancellor of the exchequer (finance minister) ANNOUNCED that the UK was going to offload the vast majority of its bullion holdings to balance the Bank of England's assets portfolio. This public disclosure before the fact threw the market into turmoil and gold plummeted. Kenya is waiting to happen in Ghana. 200% increase, which means 500 cedis for electricity you now pay 1000 cedis how much is the average workers salary. Then water bill sets in? Companies will shut down and people will be laid off, no work, you must pay bills of 1000 before feeding the family. Ghanaians are waiting. ECG will be shut down before this nonsense is implemented. We will then use power without paying and have dogs on watch to maim anyone who shows up.
