NDC has eventually succeeded in collapsing Shoprite. NDC is a curse to Ghana and Africa.

Stupid fool. NPP collapsed it with high import duties and terrible exchange rate in the past 8 years. They had no issues under the previous 8 years of NDC.

  • SHOPRITE STARTED COLLAPSING SINCE THE CHINESE STEPPED FOOT INTO GHANA ESTABLISH THEIR MALLS. CHINESE MALLS ARE NOW THE NEW MAKOLA MARKETS IN ACCRA AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY 4 months ago

Chinese are likely new owners of Shoprite. The Chinese Malls across Ghana are doing extremely well, they even establish in northern small township enclaves. Shop rite cannot match the resilience of the Chinese. PERIOD.!

Very soon they will take over everything in Ghana and that is when we shall know our smoothness level

  • Maxx 1 month ago

ShopRite's market is mostly food/groceries. They're not in the same space as the Chinese.

Stupid Ghanaians shouldn't be happy about foreign companies selling them food. Whether an Indian, Lebanese, Chinese or SA company. It should be a mandate for the government to support locally owned businesses to thrive!

  • Maxx 1 month ago

Ghanaians over charge for food items. Have you bought a locally produces item lately? Even Golden Tree chocolates are expensive!

You lie, Ghanaians have become more enlightened and seen through your modus of operations and given you stiff competition, please go

hopefully some Ghanaian businessman hard working brother can take over shoprite and put there a Ghanaian supermarket that will sell and be similar to shoprite that is leaving

Did their tax exempt period expire?

  • Coconut 4 months ago

These are provisions stores that can easily be filled up by local companies. Foreign companies shouldn't be coming in the retail business. That belongs to Ghanaians

  • Indians and Lebanese will be happy 4 months ago

They can now cheat Ghanaians and avoid paying taxes with no competition

As a matter of fact the way the Ghanaian and most Black African market is established, I knew long ago that Shoprite wouldn't be able to break through.

Melcom,Max-mart, Fairways and Marina super markets that are doing well. There are others. So your comment is inaccurate.Perhaps you dont go to supermarkets or dont have one near you

  • Maxx 1 month ago

The markets are not competing with ShopRite, I can tell you that. The convenience, prices and comfort of grocery shopping in the big supermarkets can't be compared to our dirty and stressful markets.
