By doing this, is the Government not shielding the other telcos from the consequences of their low productivity; and perhaps even rewarding uncompetitive business?
Just asking please.

Sam George, all these data reduction you have done well but my question is , what's the importance of these data reduction when we can not use the data bought because of the network issues? Currently both my Telecel broadband on my landline and 4G are not working as it is as slow as tortoise so I have to use MTN, though not all that good but better than Telecel. If you call them they won't even pick but ask you for a call back service. What kind of services is this? We need stable internet before all these freebies because there is no point in the freebies when we can't use the data bought. Telecel has been very poor on all areas since it was acquired from Vodafone's. Sam George do something!!!

Charley! If you're worried about anti-trust implications, the right thing to do is NOT to further unwittingly entrench an industry behemoth. The smart thing to do is to introduce smart legislation that will
1) Limit the monopoly threshold of any player in the industry who's reach/growth will become both a national security concern and an almost criminal industry disruptor
2) Concurrently encourage the amalgamation of smaller players and provide them regulatory support to fulfill their mandate while bridging the unhealthy gap between it and the lead industry brand.
3) Apply regulatory instruments to prune down by smart acqusition or other legal means any industry collosus that poses a threat to market dynamics, consumer rights and state security.
4) Fast-tracked legislation to enable substantial state (PPP) participation in the industry with a deliberate focus on continuous state- -of-the-art Tech infrastructure development and superlative B-B/B-C service offerings to maintain proper industry equilibrium for a fair industry playing field which would eventually bring real benefits to all consumers.

But stopping the MTN zone bundle which will benefit customers with the excuse of they having monopoly, I don't agree with you honourable. I think the other networks should rather up their game and also think of other better ways to offer better services entice customers. We shouldn't encourage mediocrity. Pls bring back our mtn zone bundles.
