@Castro, it's clear that Ghanaweb has a wicked agenda. They normally use the BOG rates for their headlines, but this time chose to use the Forex rate. Then again they quoted the buying and selling rates of BOG, but for Forex they simply said it is "trading" at..... Granted that it's JHS graduates they employ as "reporters" maybe we should just overlook it. There's no hope for improvement with Ghanaweb reporting.

thanks mate! Exactly what GH Web is seeking to do is create a sense of panic. It is very deliberate. I hope that the good editor realizes that by now , he owes Ghanians an apology.

Why that big difference between the banks and forex.
This what cause the depreciation and fluctuations of the cedi.
When there is that big difference, the banks prefer to trade with the forex than their customers and thereby pushing their customers to the forex dealings causing unnecessary high demand at the forex dealers thereby making the forex dealers manipulate the rate
This must be seriously look at by Bank of Ghana

Ajab, the exchange rate in Ghana is a very complicated market, unfortunately. Right now if you are in overseas and you are sending money to Ghana you would be very fortunate to even get the rate given out by the BoG, yet look at the rates at the Forex Bureau, and it could even be higher on the Black Market. But if the Central Bank tries right now to regulate the Forex Bureau and the Black Market, all the gains the government has made so far will come crashing down.

Government of Ghana must go to war against the Black Market currency traders. It's an emergency. They are destroying all the gains that the good policies of Gold Board have brought.

Mahama at the sidelines to increase how to more azaaa in his dealings in order to deceive Ghanaians! why go to IMF for money? This is just stupid at its highest levels! why tax Ghanaians for buying “ petroleum”? who are these idiots think they are deceiving? The Gold in Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians and so why buy the Gold from the so called local miners if the gold belongs to you? Buying something from yourself? who are these fools think they are deceiving? A fool will always be a fool! Akuffo Addo was a big deadly fraudulent idiot, and Mahatma is deceiving Ghanaians by false propaganda by saying the country gold would not be bought from foreigners but instead from local miners! interesting. Why on earth would anyone think that the Gold that is yours have to be bought again, from who? This is a scam in its highest robbery sense.why would Mahama not Nationalize everything? Nationalize the refineries, nationalize the gold extraction and stop deceiving people that we have stopped these kinds of exploitation of our own people by stealing from our children’s future! These leaders are dangerously evil in their guts. we needed a change from a dwarf devil -Nana Addo and not to an innocent looking fraudulent criminal like Mahama .Ghanaians Must wake up.Buying gold from local miners as if the Gold and other precious minerals belong to them! Azaaa in chief!.

Someone is lying to the international community who are interested in the exchange rate of the cedi. The cedi is under pressure because the gold for oil deal has incurred huge losses. So it is just plain and simply untrue to still quote $1 to C10.24. When other dealers are quoting C11.95 to the dollar. Those behind this foolish attitude should beware. When the international pressure is put on a currency you will shake like a leaf. I know for sure that someone is manipulating the cedi for ostensibly stability. The cedi has no backbone to be stable. The fundamentals are still very weak. We must be careful with our attitude because what we do reflect our attitude toward the whole world and therfore the potential visitors to the country. When tourists realise that it is all smoke and no fire, there will be consequences.
