We always is a hurry. Changes can o ly take effect when there is a consistent stability of the cedi against other currencies. Even fuel was expecting to drop automatically because stations are still holding old stocks. Not untill new stocks starts flowing in that fuel prices are expected to drop bit luckily they have already dropped. Goods and services would take some time. Our economist always comparing us to Adams Smith,s theory expecting an European style of economy where an automatic corresponding of price reductions must follow when currency gains. No our eco omy does not follow that logic and our economist don't want to learn this different dynamics. We have stiff necks economies that just expects prices of goods to change I.mediately when fuel price might drop temporarily. There must be a persistence. In Europe loses are taken care of by insurance so they can afford to lose by dropping prices as the dynamics play. Food prices would drop just wait as the cedi progresses really but not fake

Infact if you consider the cedis gains against dollar and the significant drop in crude oil and finished fuels, the same cannot be said about the drop at the pumps in Ghana.

The CEDI will gain against dollars if.government borrowing goes down dramatically from the banks.Because government can't raise enough revenue from taxes and exports such.cocoa, coffee, gold, oil etc.the government is always under pressure to borrow from Banks at higher rate that is between 25% to 28% in form of treasury bills, bonds which very.attractive to investors because its secured and risk free .Therefore in so far it's risk free, the demand for treasury bills is inelastic which the government should realised.to bank of ghana to lower borrowing rate to 5--10% rate because there is business in Ghana today that give business men back rate of 25--28% in one year this is because there are.many risk factors in doing business in Ghana. There are problems of debts service, theft, insurance, marketing, electricity problems, etc that may affect production, distribution and sales. Therefore if treasury bills and binds rates is between 5-10% because its secured and risk free investors may purchase them at even lower rate still.
