It's more rewarding to sell the farm to the galamsey boys. They are paid on the spot, they don't have to wait months and risk disease or excessive rain reducing the harvest, unscrupulous purchasing agents, etc .

It's simple economics to the stupid farmer, who wants the one touch payment instead of long term money. Many have bought pragia with the farm sale cash and are surviving much better than the cocoa farm will have provided.
If you don't come with a solid solution for them, one day there will be no cocoa at all from Ghana except on government plantations.
