This is nonsense. Allow the market forces to determine prices The quality of the cashew nuts before the rains start (December to March )are good though few. Hence demand drives up the prices . When the rains start in a couple of months the quality will drop and drop with the price . Same farmers will cry that buyers were cheating them. If they are enjoying high prices now allow them so when low prices come with the drop in quality they will know it's market forces at play. It's not everything government has to intervene.

Ghana is neither a big cashew consuming country nor she has cashew processing industry. Its export driven commodity and if foreign trader are paying better price to the farmers then whats wrong in this? Association should happy that their farmers are getting better price but these people on the name of trader association cheating farmer by forcing them to accept low price yet foreign trader are willing to pay higher. They want to be middle man and keep all the margin while farmers suffer. TCDA has announce minimum price as 15 cedi but if local or foreign traders want to pay more, then why are they worried? whose interest they are protecting ?
