I know for a fact that the IMF did not have anything to do with the closure/take-overs of UT and Capital Banks. That excuse is primarily to divert attention from the fact that it was done out of personal malice directed at Kofi Amoabeng. The Governor knows if there's an inquiry, he'll be hot and that's why he's putting that spurious IMF excuse out. The IMF talked about the lax nature of the banking industry in Ghana. They did not require any bank to be closed. Think about it, what does the IMF gain by involving itself in the business of private businesses? Even the president didn't really know what was happening. The banks were nullified because Ken Ofori-Atta was aggrieved personally. And the Governor knows it. I'm disappointed that Addison is not able to tell the truth after so many years, and after messing up hundreds of young lives. I lost respect for Addison years ago. His recent comments have taken him a couple of notches lower in my sight.
The component banks of CBG were then lumped together a year later to make it look like something legitimate was being done. They would have suffered the same fate had it not been the outcry made by the general public about the loss of jobs. The whole banking industry should be overhauled. No bank is clean. Not even the Bank of Ghana is.
