who should we hold accountable if state properties like this are left to rot ?

Have you heard about "Divestiture Implementation Program", and who implemented that program? How did Nsawan Canary become the property of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawling, did Nana Addo sell that factory to her? So, what is your point in trying to blame the current president about the sorry state of those factories who were sold before he became president?
Under Nana Addo, over 100 factories have been established in Ghana and hiring Ghanaians.

Most Ghanaians dont like to read. The current crop of journalists are worse. Have they gone into details about divestiture? Check facts b4 wruting anything. Is it just now that the factory has been abandoned? Eg. Who did the government of the 1980s sell Aboso Glass Factory to? Please before you write about things go check for detailed facts about reasons of the abandonment of most factories then.
Did you check about the Black Star Lines. etc......

If you believe there are no journalists in Ghana, you should try to do some research about those factories and how they came to that state.
Saige, ask yourself how Nsawam Canary became the property of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawling. When Nkrumah was overthrown in 1966, the leaders did not sell any of those factories till a "savior known as Junior Jesus" came to the throne and sold every factory in Ghana. The funny thing is that man who was preaching "probity and accountability" is the one who did all these selling and to date, he did not account anything to Ghanaians and is now resting peacefully in his grave.
Ask questions and there are people in Ghana who are still alive since 1966 and can tell you something. Is Nsawan Canary working, and how many Ghanaians are currently working in that factory?
Stop blaming Nana Addo, because he has nothing to do with those factories established by Nkrumah and how they were disposed.

Oh mine! I did my National Service at Bonsa Tires (formerly Firestone Gh. Ltd). I never regretted it.
I am still in tears and struggling to type this. Someone decided that, he or she will make more money if we import tyres fro Korea and China, than if we produced it in Ghana. So, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings took over Ghana Rubber Estates, the supplier of the major raw material for the producing the tires. The rest is history.

That is why Nkrumah coined the phrase 'Nation wreckers' for the Danquah/Busia group. Anything Nkrumah did they opposed.Anything Nkrumah left behind they destroyed. When Afrifa and Kotoka overthrew Nkrumah the IMF and the World Bank told the government not to import all that Ghana needed because it would be cheaper than producing them locally. And Afrifa's NLC government accepted that malicious recommendation. Look at where Ghana is now? We import almost everything and our youth are jobless.

more than 61% of SOE in this country run at a loss, so you can imagine how much tax payers' money is going down the sink-hole.
lets make progress, shall we?
1. there is simply too much waste in the country
a. number of parliamentarians
b. number of ministries
c. number of regions
d. etc.
we need something similar to the DOGE being run by Elon and Vivek to identify and cut down on the waste.
we have MCEs, DCEs, Regional ministers, district cordinators and are still not seeing the proposed decentralization.
We need a rethink of our current governance architecture, it looks like we tried to breakdown the gov't bureaucracy to make governance more inclusive but we have simply built a bureaucracy that drains the public coffers.
Rationalization is required as we desire to see improved living conditions and an economy worthy of the Ghanaian.
Until we do these, we will continue to be delusional to think that factories such as these will make the difference.
Don't get me wrong guys, i'm not saying we don't need factories but we need to have a strategic plan to keep gov't out of these types of businesses.
Gov't should exist to enable businesses and not be involved in running businesses.
Thank you!
