They keep missing out on the shipping line charges. That’s the same thing as shipping and handling. The person who rents the container pays that as container fee’s. It’s being charged twice in Ghana ports.

1. Do you know that though shipping lines don't work on weekends and holidays but they charge demurrage for those days ?
2. Do you know that when you take the containers to the shipping during weekends and your container in demurrage they will not take the containers though you have the money to pay them? Sadly the days you ware waiting for them to come to work and pay them is all charged to your demurrage days though the containers are sitting on the truck for them to come one?
3. Do you also know that they charge unstuffing fees when u decide to empty the containers at the port and leave it for them?
4. Do you also know that when we say duty are high, shipping lines charges forms part of those monies? So when an importer say I am paying GHs 40,000 for the clearance of 40ft container at Tema Port, GHs 12,000 goes to shipping lines.
4. Do you also know that you the consumer is the one that pays for the illegal Demurage? Because it is part of the cost component of the goods you buy from the market.
5. Do you know that the U.S Federal Maritime Authority has fined several shipping lines for charging illegal demurrage fees in their country
6. Do you know that the average illegal Demurage charges we pay in Ghana goes beyond 15 million USD a year? And this ,monies put together for a period of 10 years could have Finished the Boankra Port.
1. Check the number of 1D1F factories it can build every year.
2. Check the distance of bad roads it can build every year if 1km of graveled rrural road cost us less than US 50,000 per km
The cause of the depreciation of our cedis emanates from the repatriation of such monies. Arise Ghana Youth for our delivered country.

2. Do you know that when you take the containers to the shipping lines during weekends and your container is in demurrage they will not take the containers till monday when they come to work ? Though you have the money to pay them, they are not at work to take the money. Sadly the days you are waiting for them to come to work to collect their money are all charged to your demurrage days though the containers are sitting on the truck infront their terminal. In effect you are paying a demurrage that they themselves caused you. Infact ignoring the fact that the truck owner also needs his truck to go and work.
3. Do you also know that shipping lines charge unstuffing fees of about GHs 900 / 40ft container when u decide to empty the containers at the port and leave it for them?
