  Many people still don't understand why Nkrumah sent Ghanaians to study in the Eastern Bloc countries and China. The answer is a simple one; her majesty the Queen of Britain refused to allow the govt of Ghana to send students to Britain to study. This is something no Ghanaian must forget. In those days a black person was not allowed to study in almost every state in the United States. Moreover, the Eastern Bloc countries allowed Ghanaians to study free of charge. The only problem was the language.

  Let us examine whether or not there is any value in our Veeps Gold for Oil program an attempt to solve the rising cost of fuel at our pumps
  The program has net benefit of zero to the State, no matter the amount of Gold the State lays it's hands on
  As per the contract entered into by the Govt. and Int. Mining companies the Govt. reserves the right to X% percent of their output and whether Govt. redeems this right is entirely at the discretion of Govt. this time Govt. has decided to redeem their rights. The veep asserted that since both Gold and Oil are traded in foreign exchange when these commodities are battered off they cancel each other off in the department of foreign exchange volatility but this argument is fundamentally flawed on two count
  First the Central Bank is running a Negative Asset regime meaning it does not have any money, so in case the Govt. want to exercise some sanity they can issue bills on the local market to raise the funds needed to purchase the Gold from the Mining Companies and this will be a non event because Gold is traded using international valuation so the Gold Govt. will be buying with the local currency will be sold at it's dollar equivalent so there are no gains at all
  And if it decides to introduce new money in purchasing the Gold, it will drive it's equivalent inflationary pressure on the Local economy driving the prices of Goods and Services and that is also not a gain
  Veep pls stop engaging in fantasy economics my only surprise is the response of our Economic professors who failed to rebuke our Veep for this poorly thought out policy better luck next time
