How much of the Fx comes back to Ghana. We have all the resources but we also have the most hopeless agreements and contracts with the extractive industries. The Cedi should be the strongest in the world but it is the weakest because we also have a political class that has an equally weak brain and many who only think of their own pocket and not the pocket of those who elected them.

What about the destruction to the environment - water, farmlands, forests, the cocoa industry, air pollution, birth defects among others. Why not state what the country receives rather how much is exported?

Can Martin Ayes declare the value of environmental degradation caused by the small-scale miners to generate the $1.7 billion of revenues? How much will it cost Ghana to clean-up our toxic rivers and lands for this $1.7 billion. Would Martin Ayisi move his family to live in one of these communities with small-scale mining?
