  The former world's number one cocoa producer is a bit struggling these days. It is imperative that farmers get fertilizers and pesticides in order to produce the demand given by the rich consumer's. If good fertilizers are not available to poor farmers, the export can also not be fruitful. It bounced back to become number two.

  Sad. We are blessed too much it has made us stupid. We have the demand but we don't know how to meet the demand. And we complain there are no jobs in Ghana! Corruption, poor leadership and selfishness will not allow the application of simple market forces to motivate interested parties to grow and produce more cocoa to meet the demand. The only way is to come out and implement policies that will let the poor farmers enjoy the profits of their labor, and that includes the selling of their cocoa to the highest bidder anywhere in the world. That will solve the problem of 'smugling' of cocoa to the neighboring countries, not to mention the motivation to the farmers to increase their production.
