Because what's their contribution to African music, football, movies etc? How many African migrants live in these countries? For our African setting, I consider GDP a better measure of a country's wealth, so that the Nigerias, Kenyas etc with big GDPs are the big boys on the continent. African countries that manage to have both impressive GDP AND GDP per capita like south Africa etc are the richest on the continent

The "big boys" of Africa can't even dream of such a privilege.
As for the entertainment sector, it's probably because their arts are more towards French than English.
