  The government cannot impose any subject or course on students. They have the freedom to choose their subjects based on their aimed profession . If the government can make agriculture attractive and change the perception that it is for illiterates , our students will choose that field of study at will . Meanwhile government want to prioritize Agriculture yet it is supervising over galamsey which is destroying the very land for agricultural production. What a misplaced agenda.

  NaCCA DISMISSED AGRIC TO BE COMPULSORY IN NEW CURRICULUM WITH THE EXPLANATION THAT IN THE DEVELOPED WORLD, A SMALLER PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE FEED THE ENTIRE NATION. ARE WE AT THEIR LEVEL?

  Teaching agriculture or agricultural science at SHS would not solve the agricultural problems in this country. Most public universities in Ghana produce agricultural science graduates most most of them do not go into agriculture or farming after school. In the, high school students don't study agriculture or agricultural science at high schools but productivity in agriculture is higher in the USA than in Ghana. Let our SHS students be grounded in the basic sciences and they will be able to solve agricultural problems for the country after school. Teaching agriculture science at the SHS level is a misplaced priority and it must be stopped.
