I wish this man is the president like there will be import cuts and more jobs will be created. NPP and NDC shot down the introduction of import license regime to restrict imports. Rawlings and Kwesi Botchwey cancelled the import licence regime and killed the state enterprises and sold them to themselves.

Import License gave rise to Kalabule during Kutu Acheampong regime, due to scarce foreign exchange, importers needed LI from govt to be allocated foreign currency for their imports, they then turn around to sell the imported items at high prices making very high margins. Govt should just let market forces determine prices of goods, any attempt to control prices will only create avenues for some to make abnormal profits. We have learnt our lessons regarding this.
