Cocoa beans price on the world market has crossed $10,000 which is equivalent to 140,000 cedis per tonne. This cruel gov't has decided to pay farmers a paltry 33,000 cedis which is less than 1\4. Togo and Ivory Coast has always offered more than half the world market price this is when we're going to see the biggest cocoa smuggling never seen before.

They have been exploited by the nation since independence and all in the name of protecting them from swindlers.They should be allowed to negotiate their own farmgate prices. We're stealing from them by creating this huge and fake arbitrage. It is totally unfair. It doesn't exist for any other commodity or industry. It is discriminatory. If they formed an organization, they could sue and they'd win. We cannot continue to build this nation on the back of cocoa farmers for ever. It is the reason we cannot point to a single cocoa farmer millionaire family in this country after sixty something years of cocoa farming. It is tough work and they deserve better.
