The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship and a delegation from the University of Free State Business School have visited the OMNI BSIC bank.

The visit took place on the 16th of July 2019 as part of a strategic international visit facilitated by the Department.

The purpose of the visit was to initiate collaboration between the University of Free State, the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship and the OMNI BSIC Bank; for the purpose of skill development.

The University of Free State Business School delegation comprised Professor Helena Van Zyl (Director), Mr. Deon Barnard (Head of the Centre for Business Dynamics – UFS) and Dr. Johan Coetzee (Lecturer, Department of Economics and Finance – UFS).

An Executive Director of OMNI BSIC Bank, Mr. Philip Oti-Mensah, welcomed the visiting delegation. The meeting started off with a presentation by Deon Barnard, a member of the delegation from the University of the Free State.

After extensive dialoguing, Mr. Philip Mensah, the Managing director for ONMI BSIC also spoke on the current status of the Bank and its intense interest in professional excellence. He stressed the need for specialised education to facilitate the performance of specific tasks.

He further stressed the need for consistent training of staff to ensure that they are abreast with the dynamism of the industry. Professor Helena Van Zyl was elated by Mr Philip Oti-Mensah’s submission and the keen interest expressed to maintain excellence.
