'No country develops without a sustained agricultural sector' – Finance minister tells ADB Board

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has charged the newly inaugurated Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) to stay focused and committed to strengthening Ghana’s agricultural backbone.

According to him, no country can develop without a sustained agricultural base, and the Board must therefore be effective and efficient in executing its mandate.

Dr Ato Forson said; “As I emphasised during the ceremony, no country develops without sustained agricultural development.”

“I have therefore tasked the new board to remain focused and guided by their primary mandate, serving Ghana’s agricultural sector,” he added.

The newly constituted board will be chaired by Kenneth Thompson, former Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance.

Other members include Edward Ato Sarpong, who takes up the role of Managing Director, as well as Andrew Dari Chiwitey, Siisi Essuman-Ocran, Dr E. Prince Arhin, Misbahu Mahama Adams, Wing Commander Samuel J.A. Allotey, Courage Akanwunge Asabagna, and Abdul Nasir M. Saani.

ADB, a universal bank with a developmental focus on agriculture, provides financial services across consumer, corporate, SME, trade, and public sector banking.

The minister expressed confidence in the Board’s capacity to steer the bank toward its core mandate while also strengthening its contributions to Ghana’s agricultural transformation.
