Mid-Year Budget Review: Signs of economic recovery being felt - Ato Forson

Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has noted that signs of economic recovery are evident in the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.

He noted that despite inheriting an economy characterised by losses and debt, the government has shown its resolve to reset the economy and make life bearable for Ghanaians.

Speaking during the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in parliament on July 24, 2025, he said, "The signs of recovery are being felt".

The minister cited the drop in inflation, the appreciation of the cedi and the increase in the country's reserves as impressive run of the economy in the last six months.

The country’s Financial Administration Act mandates this review.

It aligns with Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which requires the finance minister to update Parliament on the execution of the national budget and outline the fiscal strategy for the remaining half of the year.

Dr Forson's presentation also comes at a time when Ghana’s macroeconomic indicators have shown notable improvement, raising expectations for a budget policy that promotes fiscal discipline, boosts investor confidence, and ensures long-term price stability.
