Mahama commissions 800km fibre optic broadband in Ho

President John Mahama has commissioned an 800 kilometer eastern corridor fibre optic broadband infrastructure project in Ho in the Volta region.

The project, funded by the Danish government at a cost of 38 million euros was undertaken by Alcatel Lucent international of Denmark.

The fibre network passes through over 20 districts starting from Ho to Bawku in the Upper East region.

Inaugurating the project on Monday, the President noted that the fibre optic infrastructure will bridge the digital gab between the urban dwellers and rural folks as it will enhance interconnectivity along the corridor.

For his part, the Danish ambassador to Ghana, Mrs. Margit Thomsen said her country is delighted to contribute towards the development of Ghana by deepening broadband penetration.
