Ghana has best environment for investment - Veep

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur says Ghana’s stable political environment coupled with her good quality labour force has made the country a good destination for investment.

He therefore called on private investors, both local and foreign, to anchor their investments in the country, saying this would also give them access to the larger West African market.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the call on Thursday when a visiting delegation from Marubeni Corporation of Japan called on him at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

A release from the Flagstaff House signed by Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, Presidential Staffer, and copied to the Ghana News Agency quoted Vice President Amissah-Arthur saying that Ghana and Japan could collaborate in many sectors of the economy for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

“In particular, he mentioned the energy and agricultural sectors as potential areas for collaboration, noting that such ventures will not only add to the energy needs of the two countries, but would also help create sustainable jobs for Ghanaians,” the release said.

It added that the visiting delegation expressed interest in playing major roles in the country’s energy sector, as well as the establishment of a sugar plant in northern Ghana, among other ventures.
