Ghana Airways Begins Debt Recovery

Ghana Airways has begun paying back its huge debt. The airline has incurred debt totalling $150 million, which has led to the seizure of some of its properties. Deputy Transport Minister, Agyeman Manu says the national carrier has adopted internal management strategies which have resulted in increased revenue.

He told guests at a ceremony to mark the airline’s inaugural flight to Hamburg that Ghanair has begun settling some of its debts.

The Deputy Transport Minister said the airline’s modest success in recent times is an indication of management and staff’s resolve to work hard to turn round the fortunes of the airline.

He pledged government’s support for the airline and encouraged the management and staff to implement strategies that will bring the airline back to its feet.
