'Despite's money is real money, no be excavator or coins' - Ibrahim Mahama

Business mogul Ibrahim Mahama has eulogised his colleague Osei Kwame Despite as one of the richest men in Ghana.

According to Mahama, himself a well-known philanthropist, Osei Kwame Despite's wealth is undeniable and “real.”

Speaking during the launch of Osei Kwame Despite’s Automobile Museum at East Legon in Accra on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Ibrahim Mahama, with his arm around Despite, told the media in pidgin: "You see real money? No be coins, no be excavator, ibe real money. Ibe them be dis."

His comment drew laughter from those present.

The Despite Automobile Museum is a state-of-the-art facility featuring a wide range of automobiles, including vintage and classic cars dating as far back as 1929.

The museum is expected to become a significant addition to Ghana’s tourism and cultural landscape. It aims to attract car lovers, history enthusiasts, families, and groups interested in exploring a unique fusion of heritage and technology.
