The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) of Ghana has announced plans to introduce biometric international driver’s licences and vehicle permits starting in 2026.
In a Facebook post sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the DVLA Chief Executive Officer, Julius Neequaye Kotey, explained that the upgrade is designed to address the occasional rejection of Ghanaian International Driver’s Licences (IDLs) and International Vehicle Permits (IVPs) by some foreign countries.
The new initiative will feature a Biometric International Driver’s Licence and a Biometric International Vehicle Permit, both equipped with a bio-data page that meets the specifications of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
