GABF honours Late President Mills

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) over the weekend organized a 12 bout boxing championship, at the D.G Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event, was organized in honour of the late Professor John Evans A. Mills in recognition of his contributions to the development of the sport.

The night also saw the presence of Laura Mc-Gough and Jerry Lartey engaging in an exhibition fight and they excited fans in the hall with a display of great body swerves and occasional jabs.

In the competitive categories, Michael Dodoo overpowered Isaac Taylor 5-0 in their Lightweight bout, whilst Samuel Yaw Dodoo lost 0-5 to Abdul Wahid in their Bantamweight event.

In a Catchweight category, Suleman Tetteh conquered Annan Ampiah 5-0, with Patrick Aryee falling 1-4 to Isaac Sackey in the Lightweight event.

Robert Quaye, stood tall in the Welterweight division after recording an impressive 5-0 win over Promise Sogbe, whilst Jessie Lartey thrashed Bright Ayala 12-4 in another Lightweight category.

In another close contest between Jibril Ahmed and Emmanuel Quarshie in the Catchweight division, the former won 15-14, whilst Benjamin Lamptey lost narrowly 8-9 to Musah Lawson in their Light Welterweight.

Emmanuel Martey defeated Sadiq Latif with a 6-3 score in the Light Heavyweight bout. Abubakar Quartey had a walk over in his fight against Seth Ankrah.
