Banku to sue Graphic

Brimah 'Banku’ Kamoko is brimming with rage to take legal action against sports paper giants, the Graphic Sports following last Friday's edition on the boxer's health condition.

For the Africa Boxing Union (ABU) champion, the newspaper hit below the belt by publishing that his continued stay in the ring will eventually render him blind.

"My lawyer is not in the country at the moment but when he arrives, we will take the appropriate legal action for that publication," he said in a telephone interview.

He indicated that the publication will definitely have a telling effect on his career and he is demanding immediate unqualified apology from Dr. S.K. Quaye, at who granted the Graphic Sports writer the interview to clear the air regarding his health.

"If the paper claims I have a problem with my right eye, they will prove to all Ghanaians the authenticity of that story," h he said amid anger.

"How come I fought without struggle last Sunday morning against Mohammed Bameyi at the Globe Cinema if I was hav¬ing a handicapped eye as Dr. Quaye claims?" he asked.

Banku admitted that he had a problem with the right eye but after some medica¬tions and reviews, he was declared fit and so finds the Dr's report appalling and unacceptable.

"I am scheduled to fight an Australian opponent in a light heavyweight contest next month in Australia, and I strongly believe the publication can do me a lot of harm," be added.

According to Banku, the forthcoming fight means a lot to him in his bid to clinch a world title saying, "don't you think the report will drive promoters from engaging me in fights?

Everyone will consider me a 'dead man' walking because of the publication and that is why my lawyers and I have decided to seek legal advice."
