West African Champion Emmanuel Quartey – “My best is yet to come”

West Africa Bantamweight champion Emmanuel Quartey also known as Nii Akuffo Addo I has hinted that the best of him is yet to come and he wants a durable boxer in Ghana to challenge him or else he will look forward to try his luck at the Commonwealth and World titles.
Speaking to yours truly at the Baby Jet Promotions Press Conference in Accra to introduce the upcoming Legendary Fights to be sponsored by Super Sport and Vits Noodles, he said looking around; he does not see any one in his weight class who can beat him.
Emmanuel Quartey, the 2009 Best Amateur boxer boasting of a record of 20 fights and 18 knockouts with only two loses expressed that lack of promotions has discouraged many boxers but he is never discouraged as he wants to make an international brand with his name and country.
He said fighting as an amateur and professional are very different and he has leant many things under Coach Michael Laker at the Fit Square Gym at Alajo in Accra.
According to Quartey, he got the name Akuffo Addo when he was in the amateur ranks and the name has come to stay. He stressed that although he is shout in height, hos name has nothing to do with the NPP flag bear Nana Akuffo Addo.
He named Professor Azumah Nelson and Ike Bazooka Quartey as his mentors and wants to be a world champion like them.
The Fit Square proud product who is managed by Box Office Sports Promotion and Bukom Boxing LLC under David Azumah and Mike Akoto said lack of fights has affected him however he is never discouraged because he is a sportsman and can play Tennis and Handball where he is the goalkeeper of the Hostac Club.
The holder of the National Super Flyweight title recalled Gally Cudjoe as his toughest opponent because he is a good boxer with fine trainers who gave him a good fight, but lost in round 5.

Quartey has been scheduled to face Octopus Dzanie in a supporting bout for the Baby Jet promotion of March 27, 2015 and he feels it is another platform to showcase himself.
He praised and congratulated his managers for providing for him and promised to give the nation a recognized title very soon. He said boxing had made him travel as an amateur, but now his aim is to make a bigger name with a recognized title.
WBO Featherweight Champion, Emmanuel Tagoe will face Philippine opponent Joebert Delos Reyes in the WBA International Lightweight Championship at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 27.
