Take my name off the Kaneshie Sports Complex – Azumah

Boxing legend Azumah Nelson has called on authorities to take his name off the Kaneshie Sports Complex due to its deplorable state of the facility.

He said the sorry state of the complex does not befit a national edifice bearing the name of a respected former world boxing champion like him.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga announced that, his outfit will commit One million Ghana Cedis, from their coffers for refurbishment of the facility, after he visited the place recently.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday, the ‘Professor’ as he is affectionately called, said he commands a lot of respect abroad due to the feat he has chalked, especially in the United States, but added that, the facility cast a slur on his image.

“If you respect somebody and you think that the person has achieved a lot, you don’t name such a place after him,” Azumah said.
