Ghana’s WBO Africa bantamweight champion, Duke Micah, has stepped up his preparation in the United Kingdom (UK) for his upcoming bout (12 November) against UK-based Zambian Matthew Chanda for the vacant Commonwealth bantamweight title.

“We have just a few days, and I can say that as of now, the training is going on well. We are working on the finishing touches, especially his conditioning, which is going on very well. He has been in London the last few weeks and I can say that it is going really well at the moment,” his trainer Carl Lokko told Class Sports.

He added that Micah was favourite to emerge the winner.

“The guy Micah is going to fight is a bit shorter than him, so we just have to ensure that he takes advantage of that height and reach difference,” he stated.

Micah is seeking to become the latest in a long list of Ghanaian Commonwealth boxing champions, with Azumah Nelson blazing the trail.

Undefeated Micah (18-0, 17 KOs) is currently rated number 11 in the bantamweight division. He is seeking to annex the WBO bantamweight belt from current holder Marlon Tapales of the Philippines.
