Jhonny Gonzalez takes out tough Sowah in ten!

Mexico City native Jhonny (not Johnny) Gonzalez out punched and out boxed Ablorh Sowah out of Atlanta, Georgia en route to a tenth round TKO stoppage. Gonzalez used his superior boxing skills along with his height advantage to keep a constantly attacking Sowah at bay and landed some hard body shots that obviously bothered the African.

Gonzalez who is quick and light on his feet was able to land his left hook almost at will since Sowah offered very little head movement. Sowah kept advancing as Gonzalez danced around him landing hooks and jabs that shook his opponent. In the eighth round Gonzalez was penalized for a low blow that wouldn’t make much of a difference in the outcome of the fight. It was in the ninth that Gonzalez really started to pick away at Sowah with precise, crisp punching that began to take their toll.

The beating continued into the tenth of the scheduled twelve rounder as Gonzalez caught Sowah with a left that finally put his opponent down for an eight count. Gonzalez jumped on Sowah and he responded by hanging on for dear life. So much that he was penalized one point for holding. The beating kept coming and soon there was no point in continuing this contest. Sowah was far behind in points and taking a serious beating.

The referee rightfully stops the fight at 2:38 of the tenth. Gonzalez wins the vacant NABF Bantamweight crown in an action packed fight. Gonzalez is now 14-2, 12 KOs. Sowah’s record drops to 16-3-1, 9 KOs.
