Isaac Quaye vows to claim WBO / NABO title

Ghana’s Super Flyweight boxing champion Isaac Korley Quaye has vowed to
claim the WBO / NABO Super Flyweight title when he fights incumbent champion
Puerto Rican Cesar Seda for the vacant crown on 18 February.

Quaye who goes by the nickname Pretty Boy Jnr has exclusively told
SportsInGhana.com in Accra that the chance to claim the North America belt
provides him with the perfect opportunity to launch his career on the
international stage.

“It’s the dream of every boxer to win a world title and I also have that
dream. I want to be world champion within two years and this fight is the
best chance for me to announce myself to the world. I have no choice than to
win the title and I promise to deliver for Ghana,” stated Quaye who
previously lost a Commonwealth Super Flyweight title bid to Don Broadhurst
in October 2008.

Barely a month to his big night come February 18, the Ghanaian pugilist is
enmeshed serious training preparing for the in the heart of Bukom, the very
environs from which emerged some of the grestest boxers the sport has ever
seen, Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey, name them. It is to such
illustrious list, that Isaac Quaye wants his name to be scripted as he
prepares to towards the fight and is scheduled to leave Ghana on Valentine’s
Day 14th February for the bout which is billed for Coliseo Pachins Vicens in
Pounce, Puerto Rico.

Seda who defeated Ernie Marquez last year to win the WBO / NABO Flyweight
title will be no easy opponent as he boasts a professional record of 20
wins, no defeat with 15 KOs. Isaac Quaye who has a relatively modest record
of 14 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw with 7 knock outs is not overawd. He
promises to return to Ghana more pretty and more importantly as the new WBO
/ NABO Flyweight champion.

And no body believes in the ability of Pretty Boy Junior than his own boss
and financier. “My boxer is ready and can face Seda and Insha Allah we shall
bring the title back to Ghana. All we need is very strong prayers and
support of the Ghana Boxing Authority and al Ghanaians and we shall make
them proud,” stated Abdul Razak Yakubu, Manager of Isaac Quaye.

Also backing the 30 year old boxer is his coach Samuel Odartei Lamptey who
says confidence is high in their training camp and that nothing will stop
Pretty Boy junior from returning from Puerto Rico a success story.

“We are ready to conquer the world, this is the chance we’ve wanted for a
long time and now that we’ve got it nothing can stop us. The boxer has
trained well and is in good shape so I can promise Ghanaians that we will
win for them,” Coach Odartei Lamptey has pledged.
