Ghana Boxing Legend, Azumah Nelson, has opened up on managing his own finances during his active days as a professional boxer.

Azumah held the world super-featherweight title for close to a decade which earned him millions of dollars anytime he went in for a title defence.

The Professor as he is affectionately called by fans disclosed that there were some bouts that earned him lots of money and he had to manage those huge amounts personally without any management.

Speaking in an interview on his life on YLeaderboard series with Rev Erskine on Y 107.9FM, he said, “I was managing my own money at the age of 23 when I was world champion. I am not too much about money. Helping people is something that gives me joy. Even if you fight right now and earn $1 million, that’s a lot of money.

Azumah Nelson was a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC featherweight title from 1984 to 1987 and the WBC super-featherweight title twice between 1988 and 1997.
