Greater Accra forms regional boxing team

Accra, July 17 - GNA - Twenty three boxers have been selected to form the nucleus of a Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Team that would be groomed to challenge the Black Bombers, the national team for slots in future international tournaments.

The boxers were selected from the Willpower Boxing Carnival, which took place at the premises of City Engineers at James Town a fortnight ago.

Napoleon Tagoe, the proprietor of Willpower Boxing Gym said the boxers would train at his gym under the supervision of he and of Ricky Banor the Greater Accra Regional coach and called on the boxers to report at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, 21 July to begin preparations for their first engagement.

The boxers are Daniel Larbi, Gordon Aryee, Yakubu Alhassan, Isaac Tetteh, Ashie Kotey, Obodai Sai and Emmanuel Aryeh all of Attoh Quashie Boxing Club.

Others are Hebert Quartey, Isaac Tordzro, Daniel Allotey all of Akotoku Academy, Solomon Tetteh, Albert Mensah, Martin Ahiadeke and George Coffie all from Willpower Gym.

The rest are Daniel Ankornu (Fire Boxing Club) Theophilus Tetteh (Painax B/C) Justice Neequaye and Richard Nii Ashong (Billy Kotey B/C) Patrick Allotey (Wisdom B/C) Jonathan Amartey (Black Panthers B/C) David Awuka and Awusin Yekini (Fit Square B/C) and Obli Issaka (Wisdom B/C).
