Ghana's Habib Ahmed missed an opportunity to win WBO World title after the defending champion Gilberto Ramirez knocked him out in round 6 in Texas, USA on Saturday night.

Ferocious and endless punches from the Mexican south-pole boxer orchestrated Habib's bench led by the evergreen, Coach Ofori Asare to throw in the towel, mercifully asking referee Laurence Cole stop what had become a brutal beating in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Habib's corner official called off time after 2:31 seconds of the sixth round.

Mexico’s Ramirez recorded his 26th KO although he didn’t drop Ahmed, but the WBO super middleweight champion hurt him numerous times to the head and the body during the final two-plus rounds in the main event

Habib before the fight was undefeated in 26 fights graduating from Ghana's Olympic team 'Black Bombers'.

The Ghanaian came into the ring with confidence, throwing lofty punches in bits when he got an opportunity over his counterpart who kept his hands on him from time to time.

After trading punches in the first two rounds, a heavy punch from Ahmed landed a cut on Ramirez's face but the latter overcame that setback to win the fight dominating in the last three rounds.

Ramírez, a two-fisted super middleweight wrecking machine, made history on April 9, 2016, when he became México's first fighter to win a super middleweight world title over the defending WBO champion Arthur Abraham, a-three-time world champion in his own right.

Ramirez has now defended his title for three times defeating Max "Tiger" Bursak, followed up by another impressive unanimous decision victory, this time over undefeated No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger Jesse Hart.
