Ghana Boxing Authority releases 2006 ratings

Accra, Aug 14, GNA -- The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has ordered for six mandatory fights and declared the national titles as vacant in its new ratings released at the end of the first half of the year 2006.

High on the mandatory title defences is the bout between Ben Odametey, National Featherweight Champion and Malik Jabir. This follows Jabir's status as the number one contender in the ratings of the GBA in the featherweight category as released by the GBA copied to the GNA Sports.

Also in the line is a mandatory fight between Ben Ankrah, National and World Boxing Regional Lightweight Champion and number two contender Albert Mensah whilst Anyetei Laryea, National and West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Super Bantamweight champion has been mandated to fight Prosper Ankrah, the number three contender.

Galley Kudjo, National and West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Bantamweight Champion has also been mandated to fight Lante Addy who occupies the number three slot on the ratings with Thomas Awinbono, National Super Welterweight champion going into a mandatory defence of his title against number two contender, Joseph Kwadjo.

George Amuzu and Ahmed Akrong will vie for the National Middleweight title whilst Isaac Quartey takes on Lartei Lartey for the vacant Super Lightweight belt.

Aryitey Powers, WABU and National Super Middleweight Champion, is scheduled to fight against Charles Adamu for the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) and the National final eliminator whilst Joshua Okine, former Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) Welterweight Champion takes on Philip Kotey in another CBC eliminator.
