THE Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has urged the media not to entertain any boxing tournament which has not been approved by its Promotions Committee.
A statement signed by the vice-chairman of the GBA, Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning noted that any such release should bear the signatures of himself and the chairman of the Promotions Committee, Mr Samir Captan.
It stressed that any such programme without these names and signatures and approved on the GBA letter head should be treated with contempt.
The statement also directed promoters to stage mandatory fights on every boxing tournament henceforth. It indicated that any promoter who fails to comply with the laid down rules of the GBA will be sanctioned. This, it said, is aimed at improving the quality and standards of boxing at all tournaments.
In a related development, the GBA has requested all persons interested in becoming referee/judges to contact its offices at the Accra Stadium with their applications.
