Big boost for Mortein boxing

Accra, March 25, GNA - The 2004 Mortein Professional Boxing League would receive a further big boost by Far East Mercantile Limited, the official sponsors of the competition.

Far East Mercantile Limited, dealers in Mortein Insecticide Spray and other insecticides pumped 425 million cedis into last years' edition and are set to double the amount following the success of the event.

Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning, Acting Chairman of the GBA who disclosed this to the GNA Sports in an interview said the authority is expecting 850 million cedis or more from the sponsors for the coming event.

He explained that negotiations are still on going and expressed the hope that they will be able to make much gains from it.

The Acting Chairman said Scancom Limited, operators of Spacefone and Somovision, dealers in LG electrical Products are the possible candidates to come on board.

Mr Foh - Amoaning said the GBA is working hard to ensure that prizes of boxers are improved since they are bent on sustaining the competition and making it much better this year.
