Amateur boxing tournament to climax Teshie Homowo Festival

Accra, Aug. 30, GNA - The Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) will on Friday, September 3, organise a special Homowo boxing tournament to climax the Homowo festivities of the Chiefs and people of the Teshie community.

The one-day event will take place at the Teshie Salem Park and 30 boxers from 15 boxing clubs will be vying for honours in 10-weight categories.

Abraham Tetteh Aryee, Acting Secretary of GAABA in a statement copied to GNA Sports said the event was at the request of the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku.

He said the tournament will kick start at 21h00 GMT and will travel through the midnight to usher in the "Sese Bumo" festival.

Aryee added that the event will be graced by Government officials, Ministry of Youth and Sports and traditional authorities from the Teshie Traditional area.

Sponsors for the event are Castle Milk Malt, the Organising Committee of the Teshie Homowo Festivities, the National Sports Council and the MP for the area.
