Albert Mensah takes on Katsidis on ESPN

Friday Night Fights April 13

US based Ghanaian boxer Albert Mensah hopes to up his chances for a big fight by defeating former Interim WBO Lightweight champion Michael Katsidis whom he fights in a lightweight contest as the main bout of leading American sport broadcaster ESPN’s next Friday Night Fights bill scheduled for April 13.

Mensah (24-3-1, 10 KOs) takes on Australian Katsidis 28-5, 23 KOs in only his second fight in the US since switching countries last year but is determined to beat the 31 year old Katsidis at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada to really announce himself to America.

The Ghanaian claimed the vacant IBF International Light welterweight title when beating Canadian Andre Gorges via a unanimous points’ decision last July 15. Now he hopes victory over Katsidis nicknamed The Great, will bring him more opportunities in his march to the world title dream.

“It is hard adjusting to the American style of Boxing. Albert did well and you can see him in even better condition and with more lighting speed as he progresses,” Joseph Awinongya, US based Ghanaian trainer of Mensah promised after the boxer defeated Groves last year. Cue April 13 then.
