Agbeko can make it tough for Rigondeaux - Donaire

Former world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is expecting a good showdown when Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux defends his titles against challenger Joseph Agbeko on December 7.

Rigondeaux had beaten Donaire last April to claim the WBA, WBO and The RING super bantamweight championships.

Although Rigondeaux is favored going into the bout, Donaire believes the Ghanaian Agbeko can pose some problems for the counter-punching Cuban.

“It is a good fight,” *said Donaire*in a Boxing Scene interview. “Agbeko, if he uses his distance and applies pressure like he always does, I think he has a good chance.”

“Rigo is a very smart fighter, a very slick fighter, but he is not too fast on his feet where you can’t catch him,” he added. “It’s his body movement.”

“If you just don’t worry about that and you go with the body and pressure him, I think it will be tough for him.”

Donaire was unable to deal with Rigondeaux’s footwork and movement when they fought in April. He was able to knock down the Cuban in the 10th round, but was otherwise dominated in a listless performance.

It was Donaire’s first loss in 11 years. He will try to rebound in a rematch against Armenian Vic Darchinyan next week in Texas.
