Prof Dodoo must admit that he has been atotal failure in his job as athletics President. If he has any decency left in he should first apologise to the Ghanaian people for the shame and disgracein presiding over Ghana's worst performance ever in The World championships and in last year's Olympic Games in London. His resignation is long overdue and we hope his resignation letter will be tendered to the Minister of Sports as soon as possible.

The Gaisah story is a shame on Ghana from president Mahama to Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, right down to the new born any where in Ghana today. The Ayews refusing to play for Ghana and the president was on his knees begging them to return but couldn't do nothing in Gaisah's case. Watching us lose our only medal prospect in athletics? Damn

There is no security on this earth, there is only opportunity.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Opportunity dances with those who are ready on the dance floor

Every school from elementary to high school has a gymnasium and a qualified coach. This is the beginning of winning medals. I don't mean Ghana should rub shoulders with the USA in these equipment etc etc. We can't have all these at a go but there's the need to start from somewhere. It doesn't cost so much to build these types of high school stadia. We can even start with the fields first with one in a district or region. Guys, get your acts together.

You might be right but I think your understanding of the problem s quite elementary and banal. In the 1960s and 70s we were doing far better than what we’re doing today. Why? The reason is a culmination of many factors based deeply in corruption. In those days we had only Accra and Kumasi stadia with tartan tracks in the whole country.
Teachers were working hard at training their students, the Sports Council Organisers in the regions were working hard and the several competitions, inter-schools, inter-zonals, super-zonals,Inter-regionals (both elementary and second cycle schools), Academicals, National Day Games, Ghana-Nigeria athletics competition etc were funded by the state. Where have all the funds gone? Dr. Dodoo participated in most of these competitions and he knows that there were better days in Ghana. It is a shame that we cannot fund any competition today, regardless of the level. Shame on us Ghanaians) Corruption also wins the day these days

There was no tartan track in the 60's. Ghana's first was installed in 1978. Professor Dodoo didn't participate in most of the competitions you're talking about. How old do you think he is to be part of Academicals? The last academicals can only be traced up to the late 70's. If you don't know, sports in general has changed drastically from the past and to start it all, you need a good track, gym and a good coach. Our inter schools athletics are still in force, except that they're not competitive enough because the old ideas are still being implemented. Our coaches are not upgrading themselves enough in the knowledge of the sport. Teachers have their responsibilities and are not suppose to teach their students how to run. Chances are, they'll give them absolutely wrong technics. This is where we need athletic coaches. Had the NSC continued well with organizations at it used to be, we would've been abreast with time. Government doesn't sponsor competitions anymore. Check all across the globe and name one nation which still does that? All have been left in the hands of cooperate bodies to fund and they'll only come in when they find it interesting and attractive enough to market their products. It's a hand go hand come and this is where the NSC has seriously failed.

Thanks for your input but you still do not get it. First and foremost I did not say that Prof Dodoo participated in the Academicals. Secondly I stated that in the 60s and 70s we’re doing far better than we are doing today. Thirdly you contradict yourself by trying to prove me wrong.
If the nation is still going by the old ideas how come that we cannot get the type of athletes we had in the past like Albert Lomotey, Ohene Karikari, Mike Ahey, Rose Hart, Alice Anum, Grace Bakari, just to mention but a few? Mind you, I di d not say Dodoo was corrupt, I said the corruption in the system.
When taking about 1978 do you know when Mr. Lawson (a real philantropist) was training people at the Kumasi Sports Stadium?
You said “Government doesn't sponsor competitions anymore.” Why? Is it not because of the corruption that the corporations have highjacked these competitions? Is it NOT because of vested interests that even air tickets have to be bought by “agents”? Call a spade a spade, pal. We all ove Ghana athletics.
