That's right. Great move .its about time we have to invest in track and field. This will give a chance for the youth with talent in sports igeneral and not only soccer .we are all not born to be footballers , all the youth need is a little attention from the media and general public support to get going. Ghana is a soccer nation today because of the investment in that field . Now we need not to forget to explorer on the sports in general .we can get best swimmers , fast men and woman , I believe in this great country ,we can do it just with a little boost from the general public .Lets bring the best out of our kid in General Sports. They can make us proud in the near future ... Zongomann

This is not going to work since our local athletes are poor and don't have the means and equipment to be fast. What are you guys hyping about? Funds in your pockets? Who are you guys fooling? Reks you and your cronies Rex Danquah and Owusu Ansh are the ones the spear headed the removal of the track from Accra Sports Stadium. You guys are always fooling Ghanaians. Athletes are hungry and can't fend for themselves, their parents are struggling to get them thru their education. You had silver spoon in your mouth in your time, you know that I know that and anyone who knows your upbringing knows that. Please stop finding ways to milk the system. Ghanaian companies are stupid for patronizing sports/soccer especially instead of our schools and hospitals. I run track before and I know what it takes to get to the top but when you can't fend for your self as to good food, equipment etc you will not be able to make it. Stop comparing yourself to Jamaicans athletes, they work hard and they have food and plenty of help and support from track coaches. Ghana we don't even have the coaches to help the athletes. You're rather need to help do clinics for coaches about coaching rather than this riffraff chopchop programs you're coming up with to benefit you and you only. Stop fooling Ghanaians and you stupid companies out there donate to our hospitals, purchase xray machines, and other machines and medications to booster our hospitals rather than this stupid "fastest human crap" idea. That's for sport council to figure that out. Allowances for athletes will help create this fastest man not this milking companies concept.

This is actually a great idea but in my opinion athletics and the other sports must not begin its development from the educational sector alone. There are people who will never get the opportunity to go to school but have an incredible talent.
Some of these people with exceptional talents even dropout along the way so how do we get to continue their development to their full potential. The are people who are self employed or doing other things other than being part of the educational system but have the qualities to be developed into world class athletes. If we want to embark on this project then i think we shouldn't only use the educational field as the only base for recruiting the talents in the nation.

The reporter got it wrong as it was and IS VERY important to us that both genders get equal money so the correct quote is that BOTH MALE & FEMALE GET SAME AMOUNT, 20,000 ghana cedis each!!
The tracks were taken from Accra stadium JUST SO we could accomodate the 40,000 all seater requirement from FIFA and we didnt throw them away, in fact we now have more tartan tracks than ever due to PPP from Govt, we have el wak, legon, SOS and several more tartan tracks and WE WILL develop the talent. Lets continue to encourage each other to come up with great ideas that help mother Ghana as it is way too easy to do the pull em down and sit safely some where and criticize but critique is good as it helps smoothen the process. Its not a fast time we are looking for, JUST to bring much needed attention to Ghana Athletics and help the government in producing talent, not just sports talent for Ghana. The Ghana FA Cup is paying the winning club 30,000 ghana cedes hoping that this huge money will attract the best in Ghana football. We are doing same and saying because football has taken the bulk of our attention, athletics needs to get some of that attention by coming up with an even higher amount JUST for the 2 winners and this huge money should bring attention AND new athletes to start paying attention to Athletics in Ghana. Sports is a HUGE area and i am choosing the 100 meters to assist the government, what are you doing to help Ghana in other areas guys cause we cannot leave it all to govt!
